Jim Ballard
Mount Union College - Ohio
Jim Ballard, quarterback from Mount Union College was the inaugural recipient of the
Melberger Award, who owned every Mount Union passing record, nine Athletic Conference
records and 17 NCAA Division III records, completed 833 passes in 1,340 attempts for
11,630 yards and 132 touchdowns during his college career. He played for two years
for the Scotland Claymores in the NFL Europe. Ballard threw three touchdowns during the
Claymores 32-37 win in the 1996 World Bowl, securing the team's first World League of
American Football title.
In 1997 he joined the Buffalo Bills in the NFL. This past season he spent
on the injured reserved list for the Bills due to a shoulder injury.
